In June of 2014 we decided to collectively change our family name to Nelson-Peterman. There is a lot of background to this, but the timeline goes something like this:

• Randy has been regretting his insistence that Jerusha change her name from Nelson to Peterman for many years
• Jeri has been chewing on changing her name back to Nelson, but has always rejected it because of complications with her published research
• Last week, Jeri proposed that we all change our name to “Nelson-Peterman” Claire and Randy agreed and we sent in the paperwork to the Worcester Probate Court

The court date is not set, and may be many months in the future. Before the change becomes official we will also have to run an add in the newspaper asking for comment, and we will have to go before a judge and declare why we want to change our names.

This is going to be a fun and interesting process, and we will keep this page updated with details as they come out.
